PORTFOLIOS have been distributed amongst the new Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly, as the content of several portfolios have also been revised slightly.
A release from the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly explained that, “Members reviewed the structure to improve focus, and align related policy areas. These changes are to political oversight only – civil service department and directorate structures remain unchanged, though broader corporate restructure work may be undertaken in consultation with the civil service during this term”

Natural Resources: Lead MLA Michael Goss, Deputy MLA Roger Spink
Public Infrastructure: Lead MLA Dean Dent, Deputy MLA Cheryl Roberts
Trade, Industry, and Mineral Resources: Lead MLA Cheryl Roberts, Deputy MLA Michael Goss
Commercial Services: Lead MLA Roger Spink, Deputy MLA Jack Ford
Corporate Services: Lead MLA Jack Ford, Deputy MLA Lewis Clifton OBE
Education and Community: Lead MLA Stacy Bragger, Deputy MLA Dean Dent

The responsibilities for national and international relations remain shared amongst all MLAs.
The statement continued that where there are conflicts of interest deputies will take the lead, including leading on certain committees.

The MLAs have now also moved into their new offices at Sulivan House.
The induction programme for the new assembly is still ongoing, with regular business set to resume on its conclusion.
