THE Falkland Islands Executive Council has approved in principle that Falkland Islands Government (FIG) will enter into contracts for the fabrication, delivery and installation of a new port facility in the islands, the decommissioning of the existing facility, and the delivery of a new access road and causeway.
Government officers will complete negotiations and finalise contract terms, with further details to be released following successful signing of contracts.
A press statement announcing the news said that the project is still “on track for delivery by the end of 2027.”
MLA Pollard was quoted as being “delighted” to confirm the project is “firmly on the pathway to being delivered.”
