MoD working to ensure proper airbridge link with UK

FALKLAND Islands Member of Legislative assembly Mike Summers apologised on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the disruption that the flight diversion from Ascension Island had caused, but said he knew they were working hard to ensure proper arrangements were in place for the continuation of the air bridge with the UK.

Falklands Government signs new exclusive licence with Sure Telecoms

A NEW  telecommunications licence was awarded to Sure South Atlantic by the Falkland Islands Government last Friday.
The exclusive licence will provide a fixed line telephone, broadband and mobile phone services in the Falklands for a period of 12 years starting retrospectively on January 1, 2016.

1982 veteran on mission to save HMS Hermes

Technology entrepreneur and 1982 veteran Andy Trish has launched a bid to save HMS Hermes, the flagship carrier of the Falklands war which he served on.
Mr Trish has in the past been the benefactor of Falklands Camp Education with gifts of computers and other technology which he personally presented to the schools and spent time with the children on two occasions.

FIH Directors oppose Argentine approach

FALKLAND Islands Holdings (FIH) independent directors’ statement that the prospect of Argentine-related control of the Falkland Islands Company (FIC) would undermine the company, has met with protest from the company in question.
